Ahhhh… Norway is on my bucket list ❤️ Your descriptions brought peace to my body & soul, and sound so replenishing!
After having spent the summer in Scotland, I felt the same way about time away from the US. It’s just a different way of being. Yet, while part of me is nourished being away, it’s still the land of opportunity. My job literally does not exist in Scotland, and my quality of life wouldn’t be the same. (Oh the irony of that statement when I consider the emotional and physical cost that goes with maintaining that “standard of living”).
This is really it, isn't it? There are so many ways to measure "cost of living..." It's such a conundrum, trying to measure apples and oranges and figure out which are more valuable to each of us in any given moment!
I'm so glad to hear y'all had that bittersweet time together in Norway, my friend.
Blu and I are finally housed after a year and a month in the Irish homelessness system.
We've been watching travel documentaries in our pillow fort of comfort we build together when we want to get extra cozy.
A few nights ago, we watched a beautiful documentary on Norway and I was mesmerized by the unending beauty of the place; in every aspect of life there.
It gave me hope for what humans are capable of when we stop lying to ourselves and to each other, and when we decide to continually and consciously heal the trauma in our bloodlines.
Last night we watched a documentary on why the Swedes are so happy. Turns out they have a principle called "Lagom" which roughly translates to balance or harmony. They seek out this Lagom in all areas of life. Work, play, family, self, health, community, etc.
The clann of Fitzpatrick is endeavoring to learn from these wisdoms and incorporate these practices in our own lives <3 <3
Sending you and yours meás buíochas mo daoiní uaisle (Irish gaelic for: great blessings my respected, noble peoples), T
Hi hi! So wonderful to hear from you <3 Hooray for housing! I hope you two are settling in and the new place is gentle on your bodies and minds. Norway is uniquely gorgeous, isn't it? And I've been very much yearning for a collective happiness like is so common in Sweden. Sigh. This world. Sending you warmth and appreciation!
The words you weave remind me what it is to be a writer and then I miss the moments when I had so much time to write. I'm going to carve some extra time into my life. HOw I found you today? I had quoted you in my Good Men's Project article and reread it today---and was reminded how blessed I am to have connections, though we do not know each other; your words and life remind me to pause, reflect, heal. ~Pamela
Hi Pamela, I loved reading this message. It's a not insignificant reminder that the call to write, and the capacity to make space for it, is sacred and meaningful. Thank you.
I like watching and listening to birds, too, Torri.
AND I just FOLLOWED Ethan to watch him prune trees.
Am looking forward to more intentional presence.
Thank you.
And you guys get some wonderful birds at your home!!
Loved seeing your name appear here! Thanks for reading 🥰
