From the inauguration on, my entire camera roll is memes. I have become increasingly unserious in an effort to buoy, what? My brain? Whatever part of me that will plop into the ocean and immediately die. I spend a little time talking shit about some 2006 movie starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz and I feel so much better. “Fuck it” as a life preserver.
On the plus side, I have taken this hefty dose of “Fuck it” as creative permission, and I think it’s working for me. I’m trying some new things on and I look forward to eventually sharing those here. On the downside, picture that meme of the woman smiling as she is pummeled by waves.
Anyway, I’m here today to tell you about a few things I have loved recently, ironically or otherwise.
Season 2 of the 1991 Scottish legal drama “The Advocate.” A busker-killing serial murderer! Corpses that have a bit of trouble holding perfectly still! Watch with subtitles, as they are poorly timed and truly add something valuable to the comedy.
Rebecca Schiller wrote the first honest-to-god post I’ve read about Substack and the mechanism we must buy into, literally, to exist on this platform. It is a work of art. And very funny.
I don’t know how to adequately express my joy that M2M has reunited to give us reimaginings of all my favorite songs from childhood. The first single is out now. Just pure delight. Enjoy!
Finally, this glorious scene from 1994’s Death Machine, a film that has somehow landed a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes. I’ll let you wonder what I mean by that. (Don’t watch around your kids unless you don’t mind them hearing gunshots and F-bombs.)
Anyway, that’s it for my sharing today. Thanks as always for being here! TTFN!

Oh yeah. Shit talk and not taking losers any more seriously than they deserve (I call them names) helps a lot. Like yeah, they are doing big bad things. But such losers.
